How "BOO!" do you do...

The day's light had faded and the evening was moving in. The shadowy outline of a lone figure is seen cautiously approaching the darkened doorway.
They pause, then swiftly place something upon the doorstep. A few sharp wraps are heard against the door and the mysterious visitor vanishes into the night. What has just happened??

~YOU'VE JUST BEEN "BOO'D"!!!~

What is a "Boo~Gram"?

Glad you asked! ;-)) A Boo~Gram is a mysterious note, left on neighbor's doors. The note is usually a poem of sorts, with a large "BOO!" decoration for their front door. The decoration serves as a means of communicating to other neighbors that this house has already been "hit". By Halloween, it is not uncommon to see "Boo'd" doorways up & down the street in some neighborhoods!

Accompanying the Boo~gram is a collection of goodies determined by the giver. The goodies may vary from small Halloween treats, to kid's toys. The magic of these Boo~Grams is the spreading of this gift, as it is expected that whey you are "Boo'd", you must then "Boo" 2 other neighbors as well. You can certainly "Boo" folks outside your neighborhood if you like, too. And (but don't tell anyone that you heard this from me!) if you don't like your "Boo" gift, you can always re~gift to another neighbor!

Adventurous types "Boo" their neighbors in the broad daylight or early evening hours, as it increases the possibility of getting caught... those familiar with the famous "doorbell ditch" prank of their childhood years will be happy to know that this tradition lives on, though the recipient gets a fun gift in the process.

Many neighborhoods start in early October, however the common time to start seeing "Boo~Grams" is a couple weeks before Halloween. However, don't wait for someone to "Boo" you - start the tradition in your neighborhood... you'll be surprised how quickly the excitement spreads around the neighborhood.

*Here's how to start the tradition...

1.) Create a "BOO" bag (or bucket or whatever you want... be creative if ya like). If this is new in your neighborhood, you may want to create 3 or 4.

2.) Print a "Boo~Gram" (or make your own) (I say print cuz you can also get these off the internet). OR... if you really want to go all~out, I recently found out that Hallmark carries the 'official' Boo~Gram set which includes a gift bag, some "you've just been boo'd" tissue paper, a poem & the "BOO!" (that you hang on your door, letting people know you've already been "Boo'd"). It sells for $2.99. (I did it both ways.)

3.) Find your unsuspecting target.

4.) Make the "drop".

5.) Ring the doorbell AND knock (cuz what if the doorbell isn't working??).

6.) RUN!!!

Here, have a look for yourself ~PaDaMa in action! Our first victim of this holiday season...
